  • INADEQUATE REPRESENTATION BY OUR POLITICAL LEADERS

WE HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE INADEQUATE REPRESENTATION BY OUR POLITICAL LEADERS,WE ALREADY MADE SIMILAR OBSERVATIONS BEFORE/EARLIER : JUST WAITING FOR THE RIGHT TIME TO ACT !*
Our Political Leaders past and present had/have failed and disappointed us in Selfless service delivery, and they continue to do same till date.
We need to review few things in order to have a lead way.
    1) Mode of selection of who to represent us at the Local Government, State and Federal Government levels are not based on the Merits and Competency, but on who you know. If we continue this way, there may not be positive difference and results. The Political Kingmakers give the Slot to the highest bidder and those who are ready to worship them as demigod and ready to part with financial resources  monthly at the expense of the Community or Constituency Projects.
Once such Person got the slot and won the election,he thinks of how much he invested and how to recoup it within short period.
    2) Those brilliant Indigenes with the love of the Region and seal to develop the Region and Communities have no wherewithal resources and right Political connections while those who win the Tickets have no idea for the job responsibilities, the reason why they are found wanted moving around like the Chicken in the rain while in service.
    3) Money 💰 Politics has ruined the very basic foundation of Democracy.
Someone will be home based Politicians, living all his life in Okeogun and on que, waiting for his time to be elected  or appointed; only for Okeogun Indigenes in Diaspora (living abroad or outside Okeogun in Nigeria) will come from nowhere pay his/her bride price to the Kingmakers to secure the slot at the expense of the home base.
Such adopted "Son" doesn't understand the terrain nor know the problems confronting the People and their Community/Constituency.
After winning the election, and because they are bereft of ideas, they mistake and misunderstand Personal Empowerment of their Supporters,Followers and Cronnies for Constituency Projects,no wonder they can give only from what knowledge or Experience they have.
Such privileged Politicians will find it difficult to stay at home for two consecutive weeks or mix with the People, immediately after election they disappear into the thin air and relocate either to Ibadan or Abuja as the case may be, and if they are with the second term ambition, you will see them back home regularly in the election year.
    4) Our Political Leaders believed that after spending so much to win an election, they have become an untouchable Lord.
    5) Politicians definitely will belong to a particular inner Caccaus or Assembly where they have many things in common and share Peers view or advice;but immediately they get to Power, they will begin "Self Isolation) without treatment. Even if someone wishes to give them pieces of advice, the first one will be the last as he or she will run away.
Remember that when they are looking for our Votes they will freely give their Phone numbers because every call counts but immediately after the election the phone numbers are changed to restrict calls and messages because they feel everyone is a beggar.
Above 👆are some of the reasons but not limited to why we experience woeful performances from our Political Leaders or Representatives at all levels.

     *WAYS FORWARD* :

    1) *MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICE* : Political Gladiators, Kingmakers or godfathers should please consider Merits and Competency of Candidate of choice that has the love of the Community, to choose the best material from the available Contestants and allow Community or Regional Interest override Personal interest.
    2) *PUBLIC AWARENESS* : To improve on the sensitization of the Electorates, that irrespective of Election time largesse distributed by all the Political Parties, they should vote their Conscience for the Candidate that they believed will deliver.
    3) *JOB  RESPONSIBILITY* : Each Town, Community and or Constituency should prepare what they want the Politician to do for them in order of *PRIORITY*, make him or her to sign an agreement that once he/she is elected; the request would be blue print over which actions will be taken.
    4) *NEED FOR PERIODIC TOWN-HALL MEETINGS* :
This can be done quarterly or biannually to review the weaknesses and the strength of the Political Leader with respect to the Performance and the possible appraisal.
    5) *NEED TO BRING OUR POLITICAL LEADERS ( ELECTED /APPOINTED) TOGETHER :*
Politicians from each Tier of Government (Local Government Council,State and Federal Government have to come together, to have a common front and to enable them to talk with one voice when the need arises.
    6) *OUR CAREER OFFICERS ARE NOT EXEMPTED* :
Our Career Officers have crucial roles to play in Community Developments.
They should see the position they occupied as a privilege to earn a living and develop their Towns also, and the Region by extension.
They should have good Human relations with excellent lobbying skills to attract Developmental Projects to their Communities.
*WE ARE BETTER AND STRONGER TOGETHER.*
    God bless us all.

Chief Pharm Olaniran Jibreel Adebayo MAW.
