  • MY PREDICTIONS ON THE FORTHCOMING GENERAL ELECTIONS 2019
From Fb wall of Akinnawo Olusegun

Honestly speaking I cannot accurately predict who will win the presidential election between Buhari and Atiku. If the electorate are to be rational in choosing their president, none of these two should be elected at all because of so many reasons that time will not permit me to enumerate here. There are better options among the over 70 presidential candidates. It is however clear that it is the parties of these candidates(Buhari and Atiku) that have structures that cut across the whole country. Their parties are actively present in all the 774 LGAs in the country. Therefore, it is certain that one of them will emerge. If the state institutions are not manipulated by the ruling party, Atiku has a better and a clearer chance.
On the National Assembly election, I will limit my prediction to only Ondo Central where I hail from. Here, former governor Dr. Mimiko will defeat other contestants because he obviously has edge over them. I know this will not go down well with many of my kinsmen from Idanre because they would have expected me to choose Allover above Mimiko. Naturally, I would have done that but I am trying to be realistic and make objectivity the guide of my prediction. I'll like to try as much as possible to erase all biases and sentiment.
The House of Representatives election is clearly between the candidates of the PDP and the SDP, that is, Akinmade and Small Alhaji. Other candidates are not just in the race. And if Small Alhaji is underrated, he is likely to defeat Akinmade.
The State Assembly election( Idanre State Assembly) is the exclusive preserve of the candidate of the PDP, the man who is popularly known as Obete. I am confident no other candidate can take the seat from him because his popularity overclouds those of the other candidates.
The foregoing prediction is however subject to a free, fair, credible and transparent polls devoid of manipulations by the ruling party. If what we saw during the so called APC shameful primaries is anything to go by, then it will be right to expect a terrifying violence during the elections. We all witnessed how a whole State chairman mobilised thugs to beat and maim his own party members who were opposed to his orchestrated imposition. Thus, if he could give such horrific treatment to his own party members, then the members of the other parties should be prepared for a worse treatment.
We pray that there will be peace throughout the election period and no blood will be shed in Jesus Name. The above prediction is a mere but objective personal prediction, my prayer is that God should only install those who will sincerely serve the citizenry. I am not interested in anybody winning, but my interest and earnest prayer is that God should only enthrone candidates that are after His Heart regardless of the parties they belong.
Once again, peace shall reign in this country. Nigeria will truly be launched into a next level of progress and development. Nigeria will indeed get working again. God bless the country, God bless the citizens. I wish all of us a peaceful, violent free and a successful election!
