AN OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR IBIKUNLE AMOSUN AND IPOKIA COMMUNITIES ELDERS.

The euphoria is still in the air, the jubilation is unprecedented, the eureka is unquantifiable within the towns that make up the Ipokia communities. Well, we thank God for the development. We adore Him, we praise Him and Glorify His Holy names. We also thank our amiable Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for the kind gesture. May the Almighty Allah bless you.

However, before the euphoria subside, there are certain issues that we need to consider so that the joy will not turn to ashes in our mouth. Mr Governor Sir, we appreciate your unflinching commitment to the all round development of the state. God be with you. While we commend your efforts, we want to suggest that the kind gesture, in term of the polytechnic, to commence academic activities within this academic year. This is possible if you are actually committed to the take-off of the school. To make this possible, the adjacent secondary school in the area, District High School, which belongs to the whole communities should be used for now. This becomes imperative in view of the fact that there is another secondary school in Ipokia, Community High School, which can accommodate the students of District High School that may be displaced.

  • To say the fact, commencing the building of new structures for the polytechnic at this lean time, although good, may be a herculean task. This will not only cause delay in the take-off of the polytechnic but may turn out to be a political shenanigan as the future of the school may become fraught in danger of being removed or relocated to another area if the income government do not favour the location.

We want to appeal to our elders to look into this seriously and do something about it. This not the time for celebration, there is still a long way to go. We need to work as a team and ensure that we hold to the cord of unity. What is worth doing at all, is worth doing well.
