Pandam Wildlife Park Tourist attraction site

Pandam Wildlife Park in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State is one of the largest game reserves in Nigeria. It was so designated in 1972 by the then Military Governor of Benue-Plateau, Joseph Gomwalk, of blessed memory. The Park covers a land mass of about 224sq Km of untouched savanna wetlands and forest and is home to many species of wild animals, including antelopes, shy duikers, warthogs and monkeys living in the natural environment.

Pandam Wildlife Park is not fully-developed by Plateau State Government. The wildlife reserve is 140 sq. km in size and has a beautiful natural lake, with a shady picnic spot. It is possible to organize a boat trip on the lake (we went out in a boat with a something dodgy outboard motor!). it is a large, scenic lake, surrounded by tall trees, and we saw hippos in the distance and baboons along the shore. There are manatees in the lake, brought from the Jos Wildlife Park, but they are unlikely to be seen. There are many different species of birds and we watched an Osprey fishing. We also saw a rare Long-toed lapwing. You can also hire a guide to escort you in your vehicle round the park, but you may not see elephants or lions.
