Why God will not challenge you when you are doing evil

A SERMON FROM THE BEDSIDE OF AN ACCIDENT VICTIM

A landlady said something recently which I consider good to share with you. A young bachelor in one of the rented apartments in her house was involved in a motorcycle accident sometime ago. After he was discharged from the clinic where he was receiving treatment, he was still wriggling in pains ostensibly from a broken rib. His condition attracted the sympathy of a married female co-tenant who told him to lie down while she pressed that side of the broken rib with hot water. While this was going on, the landlady said, “USE THE HOT WATER TO PRESS HIS BUTTOCKS TOO.” Embarrassed, the woman and the sick man looked up at the landlady and she added, “BECAUSE WHEN THIS MAN IS WELL, HE WILL NEVER REST FROM WOMEN.” It was so funny that I tried hard to stifle a laugh. But the sad thing is that the man whom this slur was cast is a “Christian” who flaunts his Bible every Sunday as he goes to church. Suddenly, the Spirit of God opened my eyes to the salient truth. While my young “friend” was bringing all manners of women into his apartment, did anybody or the landlady challenge him? No. In the same vein, God may not challenge you while you are doing that which is evil in His sight.  Both the landlady and other tenants were watching him with annoying silence. In the same vein, God will be watching you with peeved silence and this is the case against hypocrites in the house of God who carry the Bible but do not walk worthy of the name of Christ they profess. But God will speak very soon in the day of their calamity, “These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.” Psalm 50:21. Therefore, instead of the landlady sympathizing with our young friend, she was reproving him for his sexual immorality. God forbid that the young man had died in that accident, what do you think would have been his fate?

Would angels have opened the gate of heaven and ushered him into the presence of God because he was always carrying his Bible and claiming to live by grace and not under law? People of this world are no longer interested in what you say about God and the Bible you carry, all they want to see is how you live your life. If that landlady was already having that kind of judgment against that brother, after he recovers fully, if he brags that he is a child of God without a corresponding change from immoral ways of life to godliness, would that make any meaningful impression on his landlady? “For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you…”  (Romans 2:24) Repent now while it is called TODAY and walk worthy of the call of God in your life.  Amen. Is this not a good sermon from the bedside of an accident victim?
